Lost Car Keys — New Key Made On Site
No key left, nothing to copy from. The new key has to come from the vehicle itself — that is what our vans are equipped to do.
Losing every key is a different job than breaking one
When a working key still exists, a locksmith can copy it. When the last key is gone, there is nothing to copy — the key has to be originated. The technician reads the vehicle's own lock or its data to derive the cut, mills a fresh blank to that cut, then pairs it to the immobiliser so the engine will accept it. It is more work than duplication and it takes longer at the vehicle.
The other thing that makes this call different is security. Somewhere out there is a key that may still open your car. Ask about deleting the missing key from the vehicle's memory during the same visit, which many platforms support. Whether it is possible depends on the vehicle, so raise it before the technician packs up.
The three steps at the vehicle
1. Originate the cut
The blade pattern is derived from the vehicle rather than from an existing key.
2. Mill the blank
A fresh blank is cut to that pattern on equipment carried in the van.
3. Pair to the car
The transponder or fob is programmed so the immobiliser recognises it and allows start.
Bring these to the appointment
The technician will ask for them before touching the vehicle. Having them ready avoids a return trip.
- Photo ID matching the person authorising the work
- Registration, title or insurance showing the vehicle is yours
- The VIN if the windshield plate is hard to read
- Access to the vehicle — if it was towed, we need the yard's permission to work there
Lost in the sand, the surf, or a rideshare
South Florida has its own patterns for this. Keys go into the Atlantic at Hollywood Beach, disappear into a beach bag at Crandon Park, or ride away in the back of an Uber from Brickell. In every one of those cases the outcome is the same: the car is sitting where you left it and cannot be driven. The fix is a new originated key at the vehicle, not a tow.
Why call us when the keys are gone
